The 32nd International Geological Congress: Session on "Groundwater in karst and in fractured rocks"
Dates: From 21 Aug, 2004 till 27 Aug, 2004
Location: Florence, Italy
The 32nd International Geological Congress will take place in Florence, Italy on August 21-27 2004. There are two sessions on carbonates at the congress, World correlation on karst ecosystems, convened by G. Messana and Yuan Daoxian, which is part of the IGCP 448 project, and Groundwater in karst and in fractured rocks, convened by P. Lachassagne and S. Worthington. Abstracts are due before January 10 2004, and there will be both oral and poster presentations in these sessions. Early registration is due before March 31 2004.
There will also be three karst field trips. "Sinkhole phenomena in the Lazio region" is a four day field trip before the congress. "Karst and paleoenvironments in the Siena area" is a one day field trip during the congress. "The type karst (NE Italy - SW Slovenia): geomorphology" is a five day field trip after the congress.
Florence is in Tuscany, which is famed for its marble karst and renaissance heritage.
